Sure, Amir seemed great in his online dating profile: a dentist and recreational snowboarder with adorable, non-ironic facial hair, but he was a total bore on that first dinner date. (Really? Red Lobster?)

Anyone who’s registered with a dating site can tell you how often those matches who seem so promising online end up being duds IRL (in real life).

The folks behind HowAboutWe, a newly-launched dating service profiled by Mashable have designed a solution to that problem: forget about those vanity profile pictures shot in front of the mirror or those contrived lists of favourite activities, users choose their matches based on the dates they propose.

The site is of the same vein as Alikewise, where you can look for matches based on book tastes.

A 25-year-old woman from Montreal suggests: How about we... go skiing for a day and learn to know each other on the lift

By now most of you have heard of the new internet superhighway craze called blogging. If you are not the most computer savvy person in the world, don’t worry, you don’t have to be. Everyone is blogging these days from the techno-chic to the cyber-geek, from the carpooling soccer mom to your own children in grade school. For you first timers out there, a blog is a weblog. A weblog is an online diary or journal in which you may write your daily thoughts and ideas in. You can decide to keep a blog private, announce your name, let whoever you want read it or allow only particular people to view it. There are oodles of websites out there dedicated to servicing blogs and the majority of them are free. You just sign up and voila: you have your very own blog with your own web address where you can feel free to write whenever you want and as much as you want.

Why is it that so many people believe that they don't have time or take the initiative to be romantic? Perhaps most men and women don't accept that they are inventive enough to be romantic. Everyone is inventive! The definition of being inventive is having the ability or capacity to produce. The word invent offers a much broader definition than most people accept when it comes to the technique of being able to come up with something original or just sufficiently thought out.

Alex Ovechkin is one of the greatest hockey player in the history of the game.

He is a born athlete who’s father is a former professional soccer player and who’s mother is a 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist in women’s basketball.

The first sign of Ovechkin’s future came when he was two years old—while in a Soviet toy store, he grabbed a toy hockey stick and refused to let go. His parents treasure the picture to this day. Whenever he saw a hockey game on TV, he “dropped his toys” and ran to the TV, protesting if his parents tried to change the channel. His parents say they knew he would be an athlete when he chose to run up the steps to their 10th floor apartment instead of taking the elevator.

24 year old Anna Sharevich is another eye opening example of intellectual talent from the FSU.

Normally I always enjoy showcasing ladies like her in order to dis spell the various stereotypes that exists about Russian women.

But I must admit the image of a chess playing Russian beauty saying “checkmate” is one stereotype I don’t mind promoting at all. ;)
