Hospitality is very strong there. If Russians invite you for a meal, be ready that they will feed you until you can’t move any more. So if you are on a diet or don’t want to harm your health just pretend that you are full.
If you are invited to the party you should bring something with you. Beer or a bottle of wine is enough.
Generosity is valued in former Soviet Union. They can give you the last piece of bread they have if you really need it. And they believe you would do the same thing for them.
Not everybody but some Russians are really indifferent. They don’t care about politics, breaking the rules, the war in Iraq, saving money and many other things.
Most Russians are very proud of themselves and their country. Don’t criticize them. They wouldn’t listen to you anyway. They believe Russia to be the best country.
Russians are very emotional although it doesn’t seem like it at the first sight. They don’t show their character to strangers but when you get to know them better you’ll see a real volcano.

It’s polite and expected that a man offers his sit to a woman or an old woman in public transport. Women and old ladies are respected in former Soviet Union.
