You sure have heard or read sad stories about western men fooled by internet scammers. Before you start dating somebody online you should know about those “brides” who actually don’t need any husbands and are just after your money. To avoid them you have to know the rules and tactics that they use.
Well, usually it happens like this. A man meets a woman on the dating site or through a dating service. They write letters to each other and send pictures. In a while she says that she wants to visit him in his country. Sure she needs money for visa and the ticket. After getting money she either disappears right away or keeps writing and asking more money for something else. Anyway the relationship will soon come to an end and the men will be left without a bride and without his money.
Sometimes they will try to use another way of getting your money. Suddenly a “terrible tragedy” happens to your online bride or to someone of her close relatives and she urgently needs money and has nobody to ask for it except you. After receiving the money she disappears. Sure there is a possibility that a girl tells you truth but it is rather paltry.
There are some recommendations for avoiding scammers. Read them carefully and remember: forewarned is forearmed.
Be aware of women who tell that they are in love with you after a few letters. If a woman is family-oriented and takes the online dating seriously she shouldn’t fall in love within first letters. Love needs time and close relationship. Usually words “love” and “marriage” won’t come out within several month of close relationship. A scammer doesn’t want to waste time and hurry the situation to get the money.
Another sign to be aware of is if the woman wants to come to your country right away but she needs money for the tickets. This is the easiest and the most common online dating scam you may meet. Never send money to a person you have never seen in real life.
A woman may ask money for studying English. It may be reasonable if you corresponded for a while and talked on the phone and you thing that it’s a good idea but remember that this is another scammers’ tactic so be careful. A sum for English lessons can be up to a hundred dollars a month. If she needs more she is a scammer. And again it’s always better to meet in person first.
Do not wait too long to visit your bride in her country. Mention in one of your first letters that you have an intention to visit her. And do not fall in love before you see a woman in person.
Ask her telephone number, ICQ, fax, e-mail and postal address. It’s not reasonable visiting a woman if you don’t even know her address. Ask different questions and see if you get the answers. Also you may ask the same question in a letter and by the phone and see if the answers are the same.
Well, just be aware and don’t let scammers to fool you. At the same time don’t be too suspicious. A woman who is really interested in serious relationships don’t know the tactics that scammers use and she may be honest asking you for something or telling that her relative is ill. You may offend her by being too suspicious if she is really interested in you. So be aware and at the same time be wise.
