Tyumen, Siberia – is a wonderful old little town located on the Tura River. Can’t imagine, but bears, don’t walk here on the streets, nobody wears babushkas, caps with ear-flaps and plays balalaika.

It’s an ordinary industrial city, like yours and mine. The difference is that here, 21 year ago, on august 26 – a nice baby was born. Those times, no one would even imagine that that girl will glorify Russia.

A lot of time had past. Now she’s a gorgeous woman. Her name is Kseniya Sukhinova. She is new Miss World 2008.

Kseniya wasn’t an ordinary girl. As a beautiful one – was always in the centre of attention. From childhood, she was found of sports like gymnastics and biathlon. Played in local fashion theatre, was a studious pupil. She was always in a motion.
She is in motion till now. By the age of 21 - she achieved a lot, scored great success. Need to say, that she worked hard and is working now.

Kseniya Sukhinova has a lot of titles: “Miss Oil and Gas”, “Miss Image-2005”, “Miss Russia” and now – “Miss World 2008”. But she earns it.

Federal lawsuit charges parts of the Violence against Women Act are unconstitutional.

Attorney Roy Den Hollander filed on February 14th, a suit in the U.S. Southern District Court of N.Y. attacking sections of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and other U.S. statutes for violating the Constitutional rights of American men who marry alien females.

The defendants are the United States of America, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office of Immigration Review, No. 08 CV 01521. Roy Den Hollander is the sole plaintiff. Hollander has also sued in a New York State court to have Ladies Nights declared discriminatory in New York City nightclubs and bars.

Lately I’ve noticed a strange thing..

I often get incoming traffic from links that were put up by some of our readers on different discussion boards and forums.

Naturally I go and check them out and sometimes even make a comment or two..

On some of these boards if I go back a few days later or even a few hours later the original thread is gone..

Obviously someone has complained or felt that they were “offended” by the topics we discuss.  Looks like there’s nothing like a little international competition against American and Western Women to seriously ruffle feathers.

There is an age old stereotype that says that a Man should not get seriously involved with a Woman who already has children.

Although this is prevalent in both the US and Russia.. as with most things between these two countries we are dealing with VERY different things.

In the US both Men and Women will evaluate romantic partners along with the perceived “liabilities” that each one brings to the table from past relationships. The issue of children is first and foremost in both partners mind as it rightfully should be.

In the US and in the West the “impact” that a Woman’s children has on a relationship can range from significant to huge. This is primarily because there are far greater levels of expectation for the new partners to also take on added responsibilities for these children.

There is a fierce snowstorm raging outside the Siberian right now.

9 May Victory Day in Russia.

And from a historical perspective does not mean anything to them, the victory over Nazi Germany in World War 2.

I've always been fascinated by the role that Russian women are in this epochal conflict. I've always heard different stories about the heroism and endurance they have demonstrated not only in supporting roles, but in actual combat.

When I think about that world, as now, it's hard for me to imagine what these women went through to defend their country. Because of this conflict, where more than 20 million Soviets were victims .. spared nothing and nothing was left of the table in the theater of operations.
